Semon Jasper Sandven, MD, born December 24, 1924, passed away on July 9, 2017 at the age of 92. Much beloved son, brother, husband, father, friend, and physician, Semon practiced internal medicine as a physician for 30 years in Santa Monica, California. He served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at both UCLA and USC. A graduate of Washington University Medical School at St. Louis, he was a doctor on staff at both Santa Monica Hospital and Saint John’s Hospital where he served on the Ethics Committee. Donations can be made in his memory for cancer research to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on line at www.lls.org to benefit patients with such diseases. He always felt deep compassion for the children suffering through cancers and blood diseases. He will be sorely missed; especially by his daughter, Jodi Sandven, a retired at-risk youth teacher who resides in Oakland. If you knew him and would like to do so, please say a prayer or light a candle for him.
