Ida (Levin) Goldberg, beloved family member, cherished friend to many, and dedicated Jewish
community leader, died on July 10, 2017, just before her 102nd birthday. Born and raised in
Chicago, Ida married Joseph Goldberg in 1940. She was a natural leader with a warm and
magnetic personality, serving as president of her synagogue sisterhood and local Hadassah.
When Joe retired in 1975, they moved to Palm Springs, where she was tapped to lead the ORT
chapter. Joe died in 1996, and Ida moved to Heritage Pointe in Mission Viejo in 2009,
contributing her sense of humor and pointed wit to that community of Jewish elders.
Throughout the years, she has kept family close through celebrations and remembrance of
holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and other life events. She is survived by son Dr. Barry
Goldberg and daughter-in-law Dodie, daughter Professor Carole Goldberg and son-in-law
Professor Duane Champagne, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be
held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Wiefels in Palm Springs, 690 Vella Road, at 10:30 AM. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be sent to Heritage Pointe 27356 Bellogente, Mission Viejo, CA 92691.
